Taking care of homes in south Florida is proven more a challenge than expected. One challenge in particular are wood destroying organisms. For example drywood termites. Thankfully with modern technology we have a couple of different treatment options these days, one being fumigation.
Fumigations consist of putting large tarps over your home to contain the fumigant, then filling it with Vikane gas. Vikane gas (Sulfuryl Fluoride) is considered a biocide, meaning it kills living organisms when exposed for a certain period of time. According to multiple studies and the National Pesticide Information Center (NPIC) Vikane gas does not leave a residual, meaning that you do not need to clean your home or remove any fabrics during the fumigation.
You will have to leave your home though for 3 days 2 nights. This gives ample time to perform the treatment in the time frame necessary to rid your home of termites and air out your home so it is safe for you and your family to re enter. Vikane is a colorless, tasteless and odorless gas that dissipates during the ventilation process. For your safety we always do a walk through the house ourselves to make sure everything is in order and all clear before you return back to your home.
The best thing about fumigations is that, there is no guess work involved. While it is a bit of extra work to prepare for the fumigation prior to the day you choose to have the treatment done, it’s well worth the effort. With a 99.9% success rate, you can trust that the job was done right the 1st time.
